Work Services Specialist

The Work Services Specialists staff are here to help you use work search skills to find a job and/or community resources to exit the Alaska Temporary Program (ATAP) as soon as possible. They provide intesive case management to persons referred by the Division of Public Assistance.

From us you can expect to:

1. Get the help you need to access resources and effective job-search skills
2. Be able to use the skills you learn in actual self-sufficiency activities
3. Have a Work Services Specialist (Case Manager) available to talk with you
4. Receive support from staff and other participants
5. Have staff members that care about you

We can expect you to:

1. Develop, sign, and comply with your Family Self-Sufficiency Plan
2. Attend, be on time, and fully participate in all assigned activities
3. Do your best each day to achieve self-sufficiency as soon as possible
4. Maintain records of your attendance, job search, and job readiness activities as instructed
5. Contact your assgined Nine Star staff, at the I Street Site as soon as you know you are going to be late or absent for an activity
6. Give other participants and the staff the same respect that you expect from them

You have a lifetime limit of 60 months for cash assistance, covering family crises, unemployment, and health-related issues. Each month – even a day – of assistance used reduces future availability. The Work Services Program helps you develop strategies to become financially self-sufficient as soon as possible for a better life for you and your family.
