SAVING PUBLIC FUNDS

If 934 people are working and not receiving public funds, Alaska can save over $1,324,500.00 a year! *

Note: These calculations do not include DPA’s (Department of Public Assistance) administrative/vendor costs, nor do they include supplemental services costs like Medicaid, child care, unemployment insurance, housing assistance, WIC, etc. When new employees gain full family insurance, Denali KidCare and Medicaid costs are greatly reduced. Nine Star is aware that many scenarios change these projected savings for the State. Due to an internal inability, they are unable to calculate all of those scenarios. However, the above scenario is evidence that an investment in prevention costs less than the outlay of funds to rescue people from poverty. *http://dhss.alaska.gov/dpa/Documents/dpa/Dashboard/DPA-Dashboard.pdf
