Harry Banahan Memorial Award

This scholarship was created for those Nine Star students and clients, past*, present and future, who are moving forward with postsecondary** education in order to advance their employment skills. This can include military service. The applicant must be enrolled or accepted into a postsecondary program.

The Scholarship is tailored to Awardee’s specific needs which are not covered by financial aid, supportive services or other scholarship funds. This can include but is certainly not limited to books, tools, work clothing, uniforms, cold weather gear, and so on. This Scholarship is not intended to cover tuition. An applicant should work with teacher, mentor or case manager about specific needs and to complete application form. The Harry Banahan Memorial Scholarship form can be obtained from applicant’s Nine Star worker or the Department Head of applicant’s Nine Star program.

The scholarship is offered twice yearly in January and August.

*The Scholarship is offered to those individuals who have worked with any of Nine Star’s programs in the past and now wish to advance their employment skills by pursuing postsecondary education.
** Postsecondary refers to education after high school successful completion
